Please give a huge Pencil Line's welcome to the talented and very lovely Ali Edwards who is joining us this week as our Guest Design Team member and provided this sketch for this week's Challenge. Ali was our very first Guest and so we are delighted to have her back on Pencil Lines on the first anniversary of the very day that Pencil Lines started.
Here's a few words about Ali: "For designer and author Ali Edwards, it is all about capturing life & creating art.
Lifestyle Editor for Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking magazine and author of A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking series of books, Ali's unique creative approach focuses on celebrating the everyday joys and challenges we all face in our lives.
"I started scrapbooking in 2002 as a way to organize all the stuff I collected after the birth of my son. It has become so much more than an organizational process for me - it has let me find my own personal passion and voice." An advocate for not making things more complicated than they need to be & embracing imperfection, Ali shares cool concepts, design, and project ideas in her monthly Creating Keepsakes column: Studio A.
Ali enjoys conducting workshops around the county and internationally, encouraging scrapbookers to tell their stories and enjoy the process. She maintains a blog about life and art (and the concept of "life artists") - check it out *here*.
Here's what Ali had to say about Pencil Lines: "One of my favorite things to do to get myself out of a creative rut is to begin with a sketch. Sketches have the power to make you see things differently, to open your mind to different possibilities. Participating in challenges such as this is a great way to teach yourself that there are a million different solutions to any one sketch. So very cool."
The Pencil Lines Design Team want to take this time congratulate Ali on the release of her new book "Life Artist" and to celebrate Pencil Line's birthday, Ali has kindly given us a signed copy of this brand new book as the prize for our Favourite Layout done to this sketch!! so get your layouts in to us BY EMAIL by next Sunday for a chance to be chosen.
and here is this week's gorgeous artwork:
Also don't forget to check back on Wednesday to see another fabby sketch. Remember we have a ton of Prizes and Raks going on so make sure you email us your layout as soon as you have it finished :)
Also if you are new to Pencil Lines, we have all the previous sketches available as PDFs. Email us to request them and we will send them out to you :) but we still suggest you browse through the links on the left hand side of the blog to see all the previous sketches with the Design Team's layouts.

I love this sketch. It's so versatile. It was interesting to see that most of the ladies flipped it horizontally instead of vertically. Isn't that awesome that you can do it either way.
I chose the vertical way but used smaller pictures (2x3).
