Please welcome our next guest designer, Birgit Koopsen. Ever wondered how to achieve those arty "Tim Holtz" tags? Well Birgit shows us how in a her step by step tutorial.
Colourwash Tags
Take a tag made from book paper and one made from cardboard. I used a die to cut them out but you can also just cut them by hand.
Step 2:
Take some masks, mine are from Tim Holz, and place them on the book paper tag.
Get out some colors of Color Wash and a role of kitchen paper
Step 3:
Spray one color of Color Wash on the top part of the tag. Keep the bottle approx. 30cm from the paper. Then take another color to spray on the bottom part. Don’t use you darkest colors for this otherwise you won’t see the dots sprayed on top later!
Role the kitchen paper forward and back over the tag to get of all the excess ink. Remove the masks. Then use a heat gun to dry the tag.
For this step I used a piece of a mask sheet from Tim Holz and made some holes in it with the crop-a-dile, both the small ones and the bigger ones. After the tag is dry put the mask with the holes on top of it and spray again with a darker color.
Use the role of kitchen paper again to remove excess ink.
Step 7:
Remove the mask and use the heatgun again to dry the tag. Then use a black pen to draw circles around the dots.
Stamp a text or an image on top of the tag, then adhere it onto the cardboard tag.
Color the edges of the tag with an ink pad and put an eyelet on top of the tag.
Thank you so much Birgit for this amazing tutorial! You can see more of Birgit's inspiring work on her blog.

I've wanted to have a go at these for a while. This was fun, not the best but I'm pleased with my first attempt. Now how do I get the orange of my fingers and floor 8-)
