Here is what Natasja had to say:

My name is Natasja Verbeek and I live in the Netherlands in a small town called Blerick. Next to being together with Jacob for almost 10 years now (we are finally tying the knot this June) I am a mom to our 6 year old daughter Noa.

I started scrapbooking before Noa was born, in 2001. After a little break I started again in 2005 after I gave birth to Noa. Soon scrapbooking turned into more than just a hobby. It gives me a way to not only document my family and memories but also give me an artistic outlet. I love to sit in my little scrapbook studio, just me and my supplies, having fun.

I really am thankful for what scrapbooking brought to me. I have met so many great people online, but also in real live. Being a designteam member for Cosmo Cricket since 2007 gave a the opportunity to teach make and takes at CHA and learn much about the industry. My work has been published in several magazines worldwide. I love to teach workshop what I so far have been doing in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Israel! And who knows maybe someday somewhere near you!

Please give a warm Pencil Lines welcome to Janet and her team from Color Combos Galore, who are joining us for another week here at Pencil Lines. This weeks double sketch has been provided by Anna. Note that not all teh deisgn team have used both sides of the sketch; the beauty once again of sketches...

Here is what Janet had to say...

Since 2007, Color Combos Galore has encouraged paper crafters worldwide to explore the entire spectrum of color through challenges that push their creativity to new levels of crafting with color. This year, we added a new twist to our challenges with Inspiration Boards that not only include the Color Combo, but the photo that inspired it, and most recently a Designer's Challenge that translates such elements as product usage, technique, composition, typography, etc., to the project. Participants are also invited to "read" the photo and draw their own inspiration. It's so fun and exciting!

Our mission has always been to "Step Outside Your Box," and while our challenges might seem a "mission impossible," it has been proven to be a "mission accomplished," with many participants pleasantly surprised and satisfied with their results. We invite you to join us at Color Combos Galore and prepare to be challenged!

Thanks again for the oppprtunity to share in this fun, inspiring, AND exciting event. Let the celebrations continue!

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer from American Crafts, Mandy Douglass. Mandy provided this weeks double sketch, and American Crafts sponsored this weeks design team.

Here is what Mandy had to say:

I started scrapbooking at the age of eight when my mom and sisters started to take an interest in it. Through the years, it has been an activity we enjoy doing together.

As I started to determine my college major, I decided that Graphic Design was something that interested me. The decision made my dream come true, which was making a career out of scrapbooking! I have worked for many scrapbooking companies including Pebbles Inc, American Crafts, and Creating Keepsakes Magazine. I currently enjoy working from home, and raising my two little boys.

Some of my favorite techniques are using great quality type, exacto knives to rough edges, chalk ink to add dimension to edges of pictures and paper, designing in threes (three brads, three pictures, etc), and using Illustrator to place my journaling in just the right place. My favorite tool that I can’t live without is my Rototrim papercutter.

Sketch 150 and My Little Shoebox

Please welcome the last of our guest designers from My Little Shoebox. August has been a feast for the eyes, and hopefully we at Pencil Lines and the girls at My Little Shoebox have inspired you.

We end our month with MLS with a double layout by Anna. Double layouts are so versatile, you have 3 layouts in one! Choose to work the sketch as a double layout, or take either side and work a single layout. The design team have done just that, a single 12" x 12 , double layouts and an 81/2" x 11".

To be eligible to win this months RAK by MLS, please have your August entries with us by next Sunday.

I am a stay-at-home mom to my two kids and married to Ashis for 8 years. I am from India and been living in the US for as long as I have been married. After my first was born, I shelved my career in Clinical Psychology and Counseling and eventually filled the emptiness with scrapbooking. I love to experiment with products and techniques. My biggest support are my kiddos who don't mind me chasing them around with a camera...well, most of the time! I also like to paint, read, watch movies and sharing bits and pieces of my daily life in my blog.

This week we are pleased to welcome to Pencil Lines, Suzanne Powell . Suzy also provided this weeks sketch for us. Why not try using this double sketch as 2 single layouts, like some of the design team have.

Here's what Suzy had to say;

Hi! My name is Suzanne, but most of my online friends know me as "scrapsuzy."  I've been scrapping since 1998.  I love to use sketches, and earlier this year decided to start designing my own.

While I am mostly a paper scrapper, I've dabbled in digital. I'm no longer on any design teams, because I don't do well scrapping on a deadline, and since I work full-time as a 911 operator/dispatcher, I'm under enough stress as it is. :)

I live in beautiful Peachtree City, Georgia, which is a southern suburb of Atlanta. I have 4 kids, ages 13-20, and will soon be welcoming a daughter-in-law. She is already well-versed in the "we take lots of pictures in this family" thing, and has won major brownie points by always wanting to see my scrapbooks.

My least favorite thing to hear from others about scrapbooking is "I just don't have the time."  I don't either!  I make the time!  I only scrap once a week, but spend that whole day scrapping at a friend's house (which is also where my scrap stuff lives).  Every other month I go away to a lake house with that friend and another, and spend a few days and nights scrapping.  So, yes, I make the time to scrap.  Not to go to the gym or do laundry (my kids do that!) or whatever else, but I do make the time to scrap.  It makes me happy, and as we all know, it is good therapy! :)

Please give a huge Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer Pam Thornburn. This weeks sketch was provided by our very own Janine Langer, and we have given you a 12" x 12" and a 6" x 12" version to play with.

The design team had the great pleasure of using kits provided by Fresh Pages this week.

Here is what Pam had to say;

Hi , I am an expat Australian, living in Edinburgh with my scottish husband and two teenage kids. I have lived in Scotland for 19 years now and I absolutely love it here. I also love going home to Australia too, and it was on one of these visits in July 2005 that I was introduced to Scrapbooking. I have been hooked ever since!  I love to experiment with lots of different technigues and materials when I scrap so I don't think I have a recognisable style. I love lots of layering and texture though. You can see more f my work on my blog

In 2006 I was runner up in Scrapbooker of the Year- a UK competition run by The Scrapbook Magazine, and also in the same year was one of the winners of the new talent section of  Best of British, run by another UK magazine- Scrapbook Inspirations. I have also been fortunate to design for a number of retailers during this time.
I work as an Autism support teacher- working in the preschool sector, in nurseries and with families at home. It is a fantastic job. We are an outdoors family so we spend a lot of time walking in the beautiful scottish countryside.
I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to guest design for Pencil Lines. It is such an inspirational site!

Stacy Julian is founding editor of Simple Scrapbooks magazine and a well-traveled teacher/lecturer who delights in spreading the scrapbooking lifestyle. Her most recent book, titled The Big Picture, Scrapbooking Your Life and a Whole Lot More shares her liberating approach to capturing and sharing memories and was the impetus behind the launch of Big Picture Scrapbooking, the first website dedicated to online education in scrapbooking. Stacy and her husband Geoff live in Spokan, Washington where they are celebrating the recent addition of a daughter, after four boys!

Sketch #1 Year

To start of the Pencil Lines 1st Birthday celebrations, our very own lovely & talented Anna Lousie Bowkis has provided this fabby double layout sketch to us all creating.

Here's a few words from Anna: "I am Anna Louise and I live in Cambridgeshire, UK, with my husband and two little girls, and am an avid scrapper, surprise , surprise!

I am one of The Best of British 2006 winner and Currently contribute to several leading UK publications, and some would say the “brains” behind Pencil Lines sketch blog. I am also on the Design Team for Scrapping Angels , Paper Jam Studios and just this month also joined the fabby 2Jills team.              

Known to my friends and family as The Domestic Goddess, hahaha. I love baking, cooking, trying my hand at a bit of gardening and I love interior design. I guess all these “hobbies” have a creative influence in my scrapbooking and my love for colour. Now to the not so good side of me! I am the most disorganized person you could meet!! This drives everyone round the bend, lol.            

My new love is my Nikon D80 which is never far away, capturing my girls every move and scrapped at a later date."

I'm an Aussie and I have been regularly published in all 3 Australian Scrapbooking Magazines as well as the Australian Edition of Creating Keepsakes. I was named a Scrapbooking Memories Master in 2005 and won an Award for Excellence in Craftsmanship. I have a background in Design and Fashion Technology and have dabbled in many different crafts and now incorporate many of them in my scrapbook pages. I love using natural colors and lots of texture and layers. I’m looking forward to a very busy and creative scrapping year working on Pencil Lines as well as my sister and I are launching Scrapping Angels Australia in 2007.
