Sketch 134

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer Kazue Macdonald from Japan. This weeks sketch is by Michelle.

Here's what Kazue had to say:Kazue_mac_self

Kon-nichi-wa !!!
I am Kazue from Fukuoka JAPAN,  work at home mom wit 2 kids and am a wife to an easy-goin guy from Hawaii.
Thanks for the opportunity to be a guest designer for Pencil Lines this week, I am so thrilled!!!

Every Monday, I find something new, different and fun at PL that keeps me wanting to make more layouts!

I own emac Scrap   ,Ms. Scrap  and am happy to work for codomono art.
I became involved in scrapbooking about six years ago and was hooked.
I started with Digital Scrap cause they didn't have stores here yet. Now I do both paper and Digital scrap. Actually I looove the Pretty PAPER!!! I just love to touch the paper and Photos with my hands.
My  scrap style? I like doodles and handwriting for titles and journals.  also I like to cut the paper
with scissors not a trimmer though it's not really straight line : ) I feel it really expresses your own feelings more. I love creating layouts with my daughter and son. Their ideas inspire me all the time!!!  and I love  those moments, too.... : )

Much Aloha XOXO

Sketch 132

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer, Danielle Flanders. Danielle has offered us a few tips on how she did her layout also!

This weeks sketch has been provided by Michelle.

Here is what Danielle had to say:17_black_and_white

Hi everyone! My name is Danielle Flanders, although you may have seen me around as Dani. I live in upstate N.Y. now near the base of the Adirondack Mountains, but lived in South Dakota all my life...still very much a midwest girl at heart! My hubby and I have been married for 10 years and have 2 girls, ages 9 and 3, so unfortunately for him, we love all things girly in our house (even our cat is a girl. ha)

I began scrapbooking when my first daughter was born to create a baby book for her, however I've always been into art - drawing and painting, and recently I learned to quilt. I'd say my style is a little shabby, feminine and soft, yet I like clean lines also. I'm addicted to ribbons, twine, buttons and rub ons, but I love it all! Currently I am designing for: Pink Paislee, Dream Street, Melissa Frances, Label Tulip kit club and design a monthly card kit for Create My Keepsake. Thanks so much for having me this week!

You can see more of Danielles work on her blog.

Here are this weeks design team layouts:

Danielle

Such_Adoration_by_Danielle_Flanders

Tips:

1. When printing out my large photo, I used the excess strips from the piece of photo paper to punch my border with. I love to make use of any scraps I have.
2. I added the flower rub ons and bird rub on to paper first and then cut them out, because I wanted to raise them up off the page and give them some dimension. Also, it is great for moving them around when you are undecided as to where to put them!
3. Have fun mixing up your titles by using capital and small letters. (Especially good when you run out of a letter!)
4. Cut apart your rub ons and use them unexpectedly! The swirls near the title were actually one rub on that I cut in half.

Sketch 131

Please welcome this weeks guest designer, Veronica Milan. This weeks sketch was provided by Anna.

Here is a little about Veronica and her fab company Shabby Chic Crafts.Us

Hi! I'm Veronica Milan. A stay-at-home mom, living in hot central California, with my husband Albert, and energetic son, Ethan. I am so honored to be here!

I started this hobby like many, I had tons of wedding pictures and wanted them in albums instead of a box. With that first album complete, and Ethan on the way, I decided to start a baby album.  The albums just kept coming, I never stopped after that. I have been scrapbooking for the past 5 years.

My favorite techniques are distressing and lately, sewing on my pages. I absolutely love bright colors and Thickers on my page. :) Can't get enough of cute journaling tags either!

In fact, I love journaling tags so much, my husband and I decided to open an online shop specializing in handmade journaling tags and embellishments. Shabby Chic Crafts was born a little over a year ago, and we have no regrets! This year we opened Blueberry Freckles, a all printable products shop.
I have been lucky enough to have been published in magazines using our own tags! I absolutely love this hobby!

You can see more of Veronica's work on her blog.

Sketch 130

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to thsi weeks guest designer, Liz "Paislee Press" Lee. Liz also provided this weeks sketch and digital template.

Here is what Liz had to say: Liztamanaha-paisleepress

Hello! I am so very thrilled to have the honor of being a guest designer for Pencil Lines this week (thanks for the invite Annie!).  My name is Liz and I live in Southern California with my husband and 15 month old daughter, Audrey.  We are expecting baby #2 this June!

Things that make me happy?  Freshly laundered sheets, Jack Johnson songs, dymo labeler, handwritten notes, the smell of freshly ground coffee, jeans + flip flips, Maui, spending time with family, organizational gadgets, anthropologie, jazz, vintage anything, my daughter's laugh.

I started scrapbooking in 2004 and immediately fell in love with it.  Like so many of you, I find the creative process of documenting memories to be therapeutic and nurturing for the soul. In 2005 I decided to dabble in digital scrapbooking.  My original plan was to use photoshop to make mock layouts, test out ideas, etc.  that I would later execute on paper.  I never did get around to turning ANY of my digital layouts into actual paper layouts. Nor did I ever finish my wedding album for that matter!!!  What I ended up discovering is that (*gasp*), I actually prefered digital scrapbooking because it suited my minimalist sensibilities. I also discovered that I enjoyed making digital elements almost as much (if not more) than creating layouts. Today, I feel very fortunate to be able to say that I am now a digital designer (selling under the name paislee press) and that I get to "do what I love" for a living!  To see my digital designs, check out my blog or my shop.

Sketch 129

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer, Melissa Deakin. This weeks sketch has been provided by Anna.

Here is what Melissa had to say: HOF_head_shot_2_4x6

I began scrapbooking in 2002 shortly after the birth of my first son.
I was new to being a stay-at-home mom and really needed a creative outlet.
Scrapbooking was the perfect solution as it combined my loves of photography, journaling and preserving memories.
Since 2002, my family has grown and I am now the mother to three boys: Sean is 6, Luke is 3 and Jackson is just shy of 3 months.

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to have my work featured in publications such as Scrapbooks, etc.; Creating Keepsakes; CARDS magazine; PaperCrafts, Simple Scrapbooks and PaperKuts.  In 2004, I was named a PaperKuts Power Team member and later became a contributing editor to the magazine.  This past year, I won Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame contest.  Currently, I design scrapbook pages and projects for my LSS, Buffalo Stamps and Stuff and I share my work on my blog, Savoring the Details. I am also taking an online photography class in hopes of improving my photography skills.

Life is certainly busy, but imperfectly perfect!

Sketch 128

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer, Birgit Koopsen. Birgit also provided this weeks sketch.

Here's what Birgit had to say: Headshot for pencil lines

Hi, my name is Birgit Koopsen and I feel honored that I was asked to be a guest designer here at Pencil lines!! Thanks a lot Annie!!

I am together with my husband Erik for almost 23 years now. Together we have 3 beautiful children (2 girls and a boy) and we are living in a little village in the North of the

Netherlands

. I started scrapbooking 6 years ago and have been addicted ever since! I love scrapbooking because it’s not only a way to preserve my family’s history but also a creative outlet!

In 2004 I started organizing crops at my home, soon to be followed by teaching workshops and doing demonstrations for craft/scrapbook stores and a Dutch wholesales company.

I had the honor of being a member of several DT’s and have had my work published in various international scrapbook magazines and idea books. By now I have my own business and am I working as a freelance designer/teacher for f.i. Creatief met Foto’s (a Dutch magazine). Besides that I’m the co-owner of The Creative Buzz who offer creative workshops in the North of the

Netherlands

.

I would say my style is graphic with a freestyle touch. I love to use a lot of fun details and lots of color. I´m in love with transparencies! If you like to see more of my work you can visit my blog.

I hope you will be inspired and have fun using my sketch!

Smiles,

Birgit

Please give a big Pencil Lines welcome to this weeks guest designer Sharon Ong, who also provided this weeks sketch for us.

Here's what Sharon had to say;DSC_0034_058

"Hi, my name is Sharon Ong. I'm from Singapore (Hi Sasha!!!!) and I'm really honoured to be invited to be a guest here.  I get to have fun designing for Purple Onion Designs and Laine's Papeterie (our LSS) where I also teach classes.  And best of all, after a fun day at work, I get to come home to my sweet Baboo and two critters.  Life doesn't get any better than this.

I love making a 'mess' on my layouts but am secretly jealous of scrappers who can create layouts that are simple and elegant yet totally stunning - something I totally can't do no matter how hard I try!"
